To My Watchers: TA-DA!!! My greatest work yet. And it is all thanks to all the wonderful deviants who helped me along the way. I took every critique into consideration, and I changed what I agreed with thought about others strongly, and agreed after working with it some more. I really think it came out great and I thank you all so much for keeping me strong the whole way. Your encouraging words helped me so much. And my best work yet is the result.
Tools Used: Mah Brains!!! Photoshop Elements 4.0 WACOM Intuos 3 that's falling apart by the way...gosh wish I knew where I could find a newer one....an awesomer one *wink wink* ...but no really it is falling apart
About The Piece And What It Means: Okay you guys. It doesn't have much meaning in the actual action itself as much as the symbolism that I used in the character designs. I would have originally liked to use the male figure instead of the female, however, because it was a contest I decided to do female instead because it's my strength. There is the obvious in this Good vs. Evil, in that you see the Good Angel battling with the Evil Angel. God's angels vs. Satan's angels.
The symbolism throughout the piece as I had said is shown through the characters' designs.
Pose: If you look at their pose...it's the same. I just switched it up with the legs. But this goes hand in hand with the fact that I put the Evil below the Good. The Evil hense is sort of imitating the Good. Imitation I found important to mention in this, for the Evil is always the imitation of what Good is. We see things every day that tempt us away from Good. Evil almost in a way disguises itself, in letting us think it's Good. It imitates and acts like Good, but in the end, it takes you further and further down a hole you don't want to be.
Armor: The armor is a big part of the symbolism in here....or at least I tried to make it apparent. I actually had to take away some of the armor on the evil one to make this symbolism really stand out. Armor is obviously a means of protection. What can Good offer us vs what Evil can offer us? I put more armor on the good, and less on the Evil. Evil cannot provide you the protection Good can. Evil doesn't want to provide you with protection. It likes to see suffering and failure. Good wants to protect you. What's you to be safe and feel secure. However, in knowing this...we need to know that the armor is there because of battles to be fought. It's not always going to be easy, however the armor is there. Would you rather be covered, or have spots open for taking you down?
Colors: For the Evil, I used...dark...colors Her skin is a lifeless color, for Evil doesn't want to see you have life, but death. Amungst the darkness in the clouds, you can't see. I used dark almost black clouds to surround her in darkness. And for the Good, I used bright yellows and blues and whites. Gold in renaissance was used in the background of their paintings when symbolizing heaven. So I decided to use heavey golds in the background in the clouds, and also trimming her armor.
Design: For the Good Angel, I used rounded edges for the armor, and gave her a powerful look on the face. er...tried too The Evil Angel I used sharper edges and put spikes on it....give it that rough evil look yah know! In Evil's face, she looks almost worried, but still putting that mask of power on. She isn't ready for the blow the Good Angel will be giving her. For the flow of the piece, I wanted the drawing to move your eye around in a circle. The characters themselves do that..mostly by the placement of their wings and the direction their swords are pointing. I wanted you to keep moving your eye around and around so you could pass something once or twice and then see it after the third time and let it be a surprise! I hope I succeeded in that. Never tried that before.
Okay before I bore you any longer.....I hope you all enjoy my entry...fave it if you like it, tell your friends it's the coolest entry EVA and maybe they will fave it too How fun!
It looks a bit fuzzy...is that just me...
